Atlas Copco takes lead in China compressor industry to protect ozone layer and environment by signing “Reject R22 refrigerant” promise with dealers and industry associations

On September 23, 2016, Wuxi China. A week after September 16, the International Day for Ozone Layer Preservation, Atlas Copco and authorized dealers jointly signed the promise of “Protection of the Ozone Layer, Protection of the Environment, Rejection of R22 refrigerant”. Authorized dealers announced together that they would no longer sell any dryer using R22 refrigerant to China market.
Hefei General Machinery Research Institute, China General Machinery Industry Association, China General Machinery Industry Association Compressor Sub-Association, Chinese Society For Environmental Sciences and leading media were invited to witness. As the leading supplier of compressed air and air treatment solutions, Atlas Copco is the first to initiate this promise in the compressor industry.
R22 refrigerants is a halocarbon compound with industrial and commercial applications, including refrigeration dryers. Freon contained in R22 is the main reason to cause depletion of the ozone layer in the atmosphere. From 1987, many countries gradually joined to sign Montreal Protocol and promised to stop using Freon as refrigerants. Now the European union and the United States and other developed countries have a total ban on using R22. China also began to eliminate R22 refrigerant from 2015.
Committed to sustainable productivity, Atlas Copco provides a variety of refrigerant dryers with substitute refrigerants including F, FX, FD and FF full-feature integrated refrigerant dryers. These dryers have been using environmentally friendly refrigerant like R410a, R134a, R404a and R407c with zero Ozone depletion long before the launch of relevant regulation.
Atlas Copco has produced and sold more than 45,000 non-R22 refrigerant dryers in China, and maintained a steady increase every year. This is fully demonstrating the company’s dedication and commitment in environment protection.
