J-W Power debuts new CNG technology

J-W Power Co. has developed a patent-pending compressed natural gas (CNG) technology designed to decrease fill times at fueling stations.
The technology allows the compressor to change the number of stages dynamically to use high pressure from storage to yield a higher flow rate. Two models are available – J-W PowerFill and J-W PowerFill Lite – both of which are designed in a four-stage/two-stage configuration.
Both models function in four-stage mode during direct-fill or when filling from storage. As a vehicle receives fuel, the models automatically switch to two-stages, increasing the flow rate up to ten times the original amount, the company said. Typically, storage is 30% usable, but 70% usage can be obtained with the new technology, J-W Power said.
J-W Power Co. is a wholly-owned subsidiary of J-W Energy Co., which specializes in leasing, sales, parts and service of natural gas compression packages. J-W Power Co.’s compressor packages range from 18 to 1775 hp (13.4 to 1324 kW).
The company’s CNG refueling equipment packages are available for sale with or without maintenance. Additionally, the company offers start-up, commissioning, station equipment installation assistance and contract maintenance services.
