Siemens supplying equipment for malaysian gas field project

June 23, 2020
Siemens Gas & Power received a contract to supply three SGT-300 industrial gas turbine generators, three mechanical-drive SGT-300 gas turbines and three Datum centrifugal compressors for the Petronas Kasawari Gas Field Development project, which sits offshore Sarawak in Malaysia in the South China Sea.
The three SGT-300 gas turbine generators, which have dual-fuel capability, each provide 7.9 MW of power for the central processing platform (CCP) to process and export natural gas at a rate of 900 MMcfd (25.5 X 106 m3/d). The natural gas will be sent to the Petronas LNG complex in Bintulu, Sarawak.
The three SGT-300 mechanical-drive gas turbines are designed to produce a power output of 9 MW. This equipment will directly drive the Datum compressors that will compress and export sales gas to the existing riser platform nearshore before delivering it to the LNG complex.
The Kasawari field is estimated to hold up to 3 Tcf (84.9 X 109 m3) of recoverable natural gas. The customer, Malaysia Marine and Heavy Engineering (MMHE) formed a joint venture with TechnipFMC to handle the work, with Petronas Carigali Sdn Bhd (PCSB) as the end user.
Siemens will manufacture the core engine for each SGT-300 at the Siemens Gas Turbine Service Center in Lincoln, United Kingdom, and the gas turbine generators and gas turbine compressor train will be packaged and tested in Houston, Texas. The units will be delivered in time for the planned startup of the CPP in the first quarter of 2023.
